Letters: All letters are despatched using the UK postal service Royal Mail within 7 days of receipt of payment. However, to be on the safe side, we advise all customers to order 14 days in advance. All letters are sent as first class post, or, to addresses outside the UK, via Airmail. However, we may postpone posting a letter if we are concerned that the address you have given us is incorrect or incomplete, in order to avoid orders getting lost. Although we make every effort to ensure you receive your letters in time for calendar dates relevant to them (such as Christmas), please be advised that once letters are dispatched we rely wholly on postal services and will not be held liable for delay of delivery due to events such as postal strikes, bad weather, national holidays or any other matter beyond our control.
All Products: Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee delivery by a specific date, nor can we be held responsible for any delay, loss or damage of your order during shipping. If any of these should occur please contact us at once and we will do what we can to help you recover your goods or, if necessary, claim compensation. In the event that Royal Mail increases any of its postage prices, we reserve the right to change our advertised prices should we deem it necessary to do so.
Who should you write to concerning delivery problems? We hope you have a problem free shipping experience, but if you do encounter difficulties or your order doesn't arrive, you can use the contact page on this site to get in touch, making sure you give us a contact telephone number in case we need to call you. If you want to write to us via snail-mail instead, feel free. Address your letter to L. Betts and post it to: 18 Saint Bedes Avenue, Blackpool, FY4 1AQ, United Kingdom - Privacy & Security

THE ROOFTOP POST PRIVACY COMMITMENT:
Your privacy is important to us. This notice is here to help make you aware of our information practices.
IN A NUTSHELL: We do not share information about you with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete your order.
What kind of information do we collect?
You should be aware that when you buy or order products from Rooftop Post, we usually collect some information about you. The usual types of shopper information we collect are names, postal addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. When you order letters, we may also collect additional information such as the P.S. that you want us to add to a letter to personalise it. (Whether or not a P.S. you have asked us to add includes personal details is up to you, as you are the one who composes it.) When you register with us and create an online account, you may also choose to give us extra information about yourself or your orders, none of which we pass on to outside parties. When you visit our website we may also collect your IP address and information about which pages you have visited.
Do you use cookies?
Yes, you must agree to and understand the fact that we use cookies on the Rooftop Post site. Cookies are little data files which your computer stores when you visit websites. We need to use cookies on our site so that it can perform a number of shopping related tasks. For example, when you add items to your shopping basket, it is a cookie that "remembers" what you have put there. You can disable cookies in your browser, but without them you will not be able to use our website properly or purchase items from us.
What do you do with the info you collect?
Well, we use it to complete your order, or to get in touch with you should that prove necessary. We do not share information about you with outside parties except to the extent necessary to fulfil a given order.
Do you store it?
Yes, some of it. You must be aware that we keep information about your order and your previous orders in our database. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. We constantly attempt to stop any unauthorised access and to maintain data accuracy.
What about my Credit or Debit card information?
You must agree to be aware that we have two payment providers who process payments to us from you. You choose between them when you make a payment on our website. They are RBS Worldpay and PayPal. Your Credit/Debit card information is handled online by one or the other of these, depending on your payment method choice. It is also necessary for you to understand and accept that although we do as much as we can to provide a secure environment for online payments, they are ultimately made at your own risk. We have provided an SSL certificate (i.e. a secure webpage starting with https) on our checkout page(s). Some further information for you to be aware of regarding the payment providers we use is below.
RBS Worldpay: A secure payment gateway provider for online credit and debit card processing, RBS Worldpay is part of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group. If you choose to pay via RBS Worldpay, you should be aware that you will be taken away from our website onto theirs in order to pay. RBS Worldpay provides trusted and secure online payment solutions and is popular with many online businesses - in fact if you're a regular online shopper you've probably used it before on other websites. If you would like to read more about RBS Worldpay and their secure payment processing system, you can visit their website at www.rbsworldpay.com.
PayPal: PayPal's package "Website Payments Standard" is integrated to work securely with our shopping cart. It allows you to make a payment via your PayPal account on their website, should you so choose. Rooftop Post has a verified PayPal account set up, as required by PayPal.
Our Commitment To Children's Privacy:
At Rooftop Post, we do everything we can to protect the privacy of the children letters are ordered for. For this reason, we insist that a parent or guardian's name is given for the address a letter is to be sent to, and our records are organised using the shopper's name as primary reference. Giving us children's surnames is optional, and you should understand that you do so at your own risk. Protecting the privacy of the young is something we take very seriously, and we do not answer any emails or other messages which we think may be from someone under 18. Need Further Information? For questions or concerns about your privacy, please contact us. If you would prefer to write to us by snailmail, you can send a letter to 18 Saint Bedes Ave, Blackpool, FY4 1AQ, United Kingdom. - Returns & Replacements
- FAULTY GOODS
We would be very upset to think we had provided anyone with faulty goods! Should goods purchased from us be found to be faulty, you should let us know and return them to us. We will refund the price you paid for them in full. No quibbling.
YOUR RIGHT TO RETURN Please note that as a shopper in the UK you have the right to cancel the purchase of products or services within seven working days of delivery. We run our business in accordance with this right, which is outlined in the United Kingdom's Distance Selling Regulations. To find out more about the regulations, please visit The Office of Fair Trading's website or download their short guide on distance selling (PDF). If you do wish to cancel your purchase, please inform us in writing. You should include your name, address, details of the item you ordered and your reasons for cancelling. Cancellation letters should be sent to: 18 Saint Bedes Avenue, Blackpool, FY4 1AQ, United Kingdom. If, within 14 days of delivery or 28 days from the date of your order, (whichever is later), you are dissatisfied with your purchase and decide to return it, we will refund your money or exchange your goods as required. Please note that unfortunately, we cannot refund postage costs. For further help in requesting refunds or replacements, please see How to Return an Item - Ordering
- Orders can be placed via our online shop. (In case you're wondering where that is, it's here, you're already in it! It's the suite of pages that have the same basic layout as this one.) Obviously, we are keen to get orders personalised, packed and posted as soon as humanly possible, but to be on the safe side, we must recommend the following, to avoid disappointment: All UK customers should order at least 14 days in advance of the time they would like their purchases to arrive. Customers outside the UK should be aware that the length of time it takes for letters to be delivered may vary significantly, depending on which country they are being sent to. We therefore must advise all international customers to place orders as far in advance as possible and to allow 28 days extra for delivery. Whilst we will dispatch your letter within 7 days of receipt of payment, we cannot guarantee delivery of it within that time frame. This is due to our reliance on postal services as outlined below under the heading “Delivery”. Up to three children's names may appear on one letter, unless you are ordering a "Write Your Own Father Christmas Letter", in which case you can address it to however many you like. Please note though, that too many names may look squashed on the envelope. To place an order for any product you must be over 18 years of age.
- When you order a personalised letter, please be aware that it is our policy not reproduce any type of adult content. This includes swear words, lewd comments, threatening language, or anything else that we consider to be inappropriate for children. If we receive an order with adult content in it, we will cancel it immediately and refund your payment. Thank you for keeping this in mind.
- Payment & Pricing
- Full payment will be taken from you via RBS Worldpay or Paypal at the time of ordering. All prices and payments are in pounds (£) sterling (GBP). If you are an international customer, your credit or debit card company will exchange the charged amount to the currency of your country at the current exchange rate. Rooftop Post reserves the right to change any advertised price prior to your placing an order. In the event of such changes you will be notified before any payment is debited from your account. Your contract, and therefore our acceptance of your order, will not be deemed concluded until we have received your payment. You will know that we have accepted your order when you receive a confirmation email from us to the email address you gave on this website. We would also like to make you aware that we are entitled to refuse any order and refund any payment.
PAYMENT PROVIDERS When you pay via our website, you should be aware that you can choose between two payment providers. You can either choose to pay via RBS Worldpay or via PayPal. All our payments are taken via RBS Worldpay or Paypal and we do not accept cheques or postal orders. It is also important for you to understand and accept that although we do our utmost to provide a secure environment for online payments, all payments are ultimately made at your own risk.
RBS Worldpay: Please be aware that online payments via RBS Worldpay are made on their website through their secure server. When you choose to pay us via RBS Worldpay, you are taken away from our website and onto theirs to make your payment. You need to understand that we are not responisble for RBS Worldpay's website, it is not our fault if it breaks down and we cannot stop them from refusing to allow you to pay if they so choose. For further information about RBS Worldpay, please visit www.rbsworldpay.com.
PayPal: Rooftop Post uses a product offered by PayPal to take payments online called "Website Payments Standard". It allows you to make payments on PayPal's website via your PayPal account. We also have an SSL cetificate on our checkout page(s) and a verified Paypal account. For further information regarding Paypal, please visit their website www.paypal.co.uk.
- Statutory Rights
- As a British business, Rooftop Post is subject to operation in accordance with UK Law. Any contract will be interpreted and enforced in accordance with the laws of England and deemed to have been concluded within the UK. Please be aware that by submitting your order to Rooftop Post you are confirming that you have read, understood and accepted all the terms and conditions set out above. As a statement these Terms and Conditions do not affect your statutory rights.
- Copyright
- Each letter you receive will be marked: ©L.A.Betts2010 (We have ensured that this will be written and positioned as inconspicuously as possible on the back of letters, in order to preserve the illusion that they are created by and sent from magical characters.) The illustrations and text in our letters are created by the same author and the marked copyright applies to all. No part of any letter or its matching envelope may be reproduced by any means (including electronically) without the prior permission of their author.
Copyright without the jargon - The paragraph above means that the right to make copies of all letters is ultimately "owned" by the person who sat down with a paintbrush and a pen and created them in the first place. It says that you're not allowed to reproduce any letter that you've bought, unless you've got permission from its creator - i.e. the artist or author. So basically you mustn't photocopy letters, scan them, take photographs of them, email them, type out the text and use it elsewhere and so on and so on. However, if you do want to do any of these things it's probably worth asking the artist for permission, because you never know, you might get it. If you want to ask for permission to copy anything - just contact us and we'll pass on your request.
