Story Prompts:
If you’re a teacher, or perhaps a parent who wants to encourage your child to tell stories, you might like to use this picture of a witch and her animal friends as a creative writing prompt. For example:
- The witch and her friends could be about to set out for a Halloween party, but something strange and spooky happens along the way to stop them getting there. What could it be?
- Perhaps the bat and the toad aren’t animals at all, but witches or wizards who have been transformed! Did someone else transform them, or did they do it to themselves? And if so, why?
- Nights with a crescent moon are important for certain kinds of spells. In fact, certain potions can only be made beneath one. What kind of potion could these three friends be planning to cook up together? And what will they use it for?
- The bat may not be an ordinary bat, but a messenger from the magical Midnight Queen. What might her message be, and what will the witch and the toad do when they hear it?
Good luck and happy writing!
