With Easter around the corner, you might feel like brightening your home with some Easter decorations.  Ours are all free to print out and our favourites, new and old, can be found below.  They’re a great way of making Easter parties or meals more festive and a lots of fun for any creative kids who want to help you prepare.  We hope you have a magical Easter this year.

You might also enjoy crafting these Easter ornaments.  They look best stuck onto card, unless you’re going to print them onto card in the first place of course.  The nice thin about sticking them onto card though, is that you can put a picture on both sides.  You’ll also need something sharp like a skewer or a knitting needle to create the hole to thread the string through.

Flamingo Treasure Hunt and Party Printables

Fabulous flamingos are everywhere these days and are increasingly popular with children as well as grown-ups.  With this in mind, we’ve created a rhyming flamingo treasure hunt, fun for all flamingo-loving kids.  It can be used for parties or just as a run-around-the-house game on an ordinary afternoon.

What You Need:

A printer for the clues of course, and some scissors to cut them out.  This is an indoor game and we have tried to make sure that the clues only include objects (such as a book or a chair) that exist in any house.  You’ll also need some “treasure” to leave with the last clue.

A Couple of Tips:

Along with your treasure or prize, you could add a fabulous flamingo certificate for the winner.  Obviously, you won’t know who that is until the game takes place, so just make sure you have a pen handy to add the winning child’s name.

The prettiest birds

Snowman Soup

What is snowman soup?

Basically, it’s hot chocolate with a little extra oomph! You make a normal cup of hot cocoa, then add extra chocolate and white marshmallows – which are what give it its name. Some people also add extra milk or cream and just for fun, the whole thing is stirred up with a candy cane. It’s also becoming increasingly common for the raw ingredients for snowman soup to be put together as a gift for people to take home. A snowman soup gift set usually consists of a sachet of hot chocolate; some extra chocolate to stir in, such as buttons or stars or kisses; some white marshmallows; and a candy cane to stir it all up.

Snowman Soup Printables:

We’ve written a couple of snowman soup poems, both of which are available for you below. We find parents like to print one, roll it up, tie with a ribbon and place it alongside a steaming cup of snowman soup or with a snowman soup gift set. (A snowman soup gift set usually consists of a sachet of hot chocolate, some extra chocolate to stir in such as buttons, stars or kisses, some white marshmallows, and a candy cane to stir it all up.)

Fairy Garlands

For little ones who love fairies, these easy-to-make garlands are a great way to make a fairy party look magical.  They also look great in bedrooms… where the fairies can watch over you all night long.

To make this decoration, you will need:

How to Make Your Summer Sky Fairy Garland:

STEP 1

Decide how many fairies you need for your garland, then print them by clicking the fairy pictures below. (Each one will take you to a pdf file of that fairy pendant – three per page.)

STEP 2

Cut around the oval cloudscapes containing the fairies, so that you can fold each one to make a double sided paper pendant.  Tip: You might find it easier to fold each pendant over the string/wool before you glue the two halves together, so that you don’t have to thread it through.

STEP 3

Stick the two halves of each pendant together but only glue about half or two thirds of the blank side, leaving a nice wide unglued bit at the top for your string/wool to go through. This makes it much easier to rethread if you want to rearrange anything – you won’t have to fiddle about trying to force your string through a very small space! Finally, you might like to know that when we made ours, we found wool much better than string – it just seemed better at holding each fairy in place.

STEP 4

Pretty fairy bunting hanging in a garden

Hang your magical string of fairies anywhere in your home or garden.  Well done!  If they’ve turned out anything like ours it was worth the effort – and we hope your children enjoy them. A final tip: once the glue was dry we trimmed each oval to make sure there were no bits of white paper from the other side showing around the edges.

Summer Party Garlands

Closeup of some printable flower buntingIt’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere,  officially from 21st June to 22nd of September 2017, and for many families, this means celebrations of all kinds.  Perhaps you have a summer birthday in your clan?  Or you can’t wait to treat the kids to a barbecue?  Maybe you’re a fan of Midsummer Night’s Eve?  Or you just can’t think of anything lovelier than drinks, nibbles or whole feasts in the garden?

Whatever the case, we’ve created a couple of quick decorations for you to craft.  There are links to flower, burger, and fruit garlands below, all ready to print out.

Garland of printable flowers

This printable blue and pink flower garland is a great way to decorate your house, garden or balcony for summer parties, barbecues or just because you want to add a bit of summer colour to your life. Here’s what you need: a printer, a pair of scissors, some wool/string and (optionally) some glue.

We know it’s pretty obvious how and make this garland, but we’ve added some steps below to make it even easier.  We hope you (and your children) have a great time decorating for your summer party!

Make a Miniature Tooth Fairy Letter

Miniature Tooth Fairy and matching envelope for a child's 1st ToothThere are many beautiful Tooth Fairy letters out there in the cloud and some of the loveliest ones are very small.  Fairy-sized in fact.  However, it can be rather fiddly to find a tiny pen (and perhaps your strongest reading glasses!) to write one yourself, so we thought we’d post a couple that are ready-written and free to print out.  All you’ll need to make yours is a pair of scissors a dab of glue for the tiny envelope flaps.

So far, we’ve got two letters for a general tooth pick-up and one for a first tooth.  Each comes with a matching envelope for a girl or a boy – whichever you want.  (They’re all below.)  If you’d rather print a normal-sized letter instead, you can still find a range of them on our Tooth Fairy notes page.  We’ll be tracking how busy this page is and if it proves popular, we’ll make more miniature letters in the not-to-distant future.

Top Tip:

Fairy dust or ultra fine glitter, good for crafting, being blown out of a woman's hands.If you’re a bit of a fairy crafting fiend, dipping your tiny Tooth Fairy letter in ultra fine glitter before you put it in the envelope will make it sparkle beautifully when your child takes it out.  The glitter won’t stick unless it’s the very fine kind though, like the glitter you see people using for nail art.  The best place to find some is probably ebay.  Also, beware, it can get everywhere and if you spill it on the carpet you’ll spot the occasional sparkle for months, in spite of your best efforts to vacuum it away.  We recommend using it on a tray.

It may be early but with the shops already stocking up for Easter, we thought we’d post a quick collection of resources which you might find useful in the run up to that happy spring Sunday.  Oh – and in case you’re reading this and thinking to yourself, “When is Easter this year?  I must check! we’ve already googled it for you and it’s Sunday, April 16th.

To get back to the point, all the printables below are meant to help children get some fun out of preparing for Easter early, whether it’s through a reminder to be good between now and then from the Easter Bunny, or simply making a mountain of Easter paper chains!  We hope you find them useful.

Your Fairy Ideas

Hello dear visitors!  First of all a big thank you to all of you who have dropped us a line since the new year with your fairy requests and ideas.  We LOVE to hear your thoughts.  As you know, we don’t always have time to make everything we would want to, but we do try to answer everyone and create the printables that seem the most popular.

This month, the Tooth Fairy has been much in demand, so as you’ll see further down this page, we’ve done what we can.  We’ve had a couple of people asking for other magical bits and pieces too, and they’re also below.   We hope you enjoy them!
