This is a picture of St George’s dragon threatening sheep. The story goes that the townspeople were forced to give the dragon one sheep (or goat) a week until there were non left… at which point the dragon started demanding young maidens. The dragon pictured here might seem a bit scary, but could be useful to help get children to understand St George’s Day.
